Christmas is around the corner; it’s the season to spend time with family, reflect on the year and start thinking about resolutions for the year ahead — BUT — the Handelsblatt Wintercamp was an event that I just couldn’t pass up, even if carving out the time to go proved a little challenging!
It most certainly gave me opportunity to reflect. One of the main topics was Generative AI and how we can make it work for our businesses, and my mega highlight was the live podcast 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘵 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘳𝘶𝘱𝘵 with journalist Sebastian Matthes and author Dr. Miriam Meckel.
Meckel has just co-authored a book on this topic with Dr. Léa Steinacker - “Alles überall auf einmal: Wie Künstliche Intelligenz unsere Welt verändert und was wir dabei gewinnen können” (Everything everywhere all at once: How Artificial Intelligence is changing our world and what we stand to gain from it) which is coming out in February. Based on what I heard in this conversation, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It was fascinating to witness them peeling back the layers of comfort zones that we create around ourselves when it comes to generative AI, and revealing the changes that lie ahead and that we would do well to get used to. “The probability that we will be replaced by AI itself is small,” Matthes said. “But we will be replaced by people who know how to use it better than we do.”
Spending the day in a media house filled with some of the brightest minds that I know talking about Large Language Models and AI applications made it more evident than ever that as businesses we really have to adapt fast, and merge our existing business models with new interactive discussion formats. Hats off to Andrea Wasmuth for always being ahead of the curve and leading the transition.
I really enjoyed the off-the-record session for female rising stars too - AND it was lovely to see some familiar faces who work in the same space as we do - bit of an impromptu reunion with herCAREER’ s Natascha Hoffner and Natascha Zeljko of F10 Fe:maleOneZero and CIRCULAZE by CURAZE 💕
Now that it’s Friday and the weekend is upon us, I wish you all a relaxing and do-nothing-at-all few days in the lead up to Christmas ✨ 🎄
