As a start-up founder myself, I really loved being able to sit on the jury at the Public Value Award for Startups 2023 and gain a new perspective on what it takes to set up and run an impactful business.
Public value affects us all, which is why this award is so valuable. As an entrepreneur, I was incredibly impressed by the presentations and impact of all seven finalists this year (Artenglueck, bitteiler, Energyminer GmbH, MentalStark, Oxyle , Polycare & WILDPLASTIC®), and the innovative solutions that they offer to the challenges of our world today. To me, they were all winners!
I also have to mention Timo Meynhardt here. Not only does he drive this important initiative, he has also developed a super interesting structured approach to measuring the common good - with a scorecard that puts criteria like quality of life, decency, solidarity and meeting goals on the same level as economic value. I can't overstate how inspiring it was for me to be on this jury: I got to see how other businesses are externally evaluated, and I’ll be taking notes back with me on things that we can implement ourselves ❤️ 🌍
Aside from meeting such high-calibre finalists, it was also great to meet all the cool people on the jury, including some old friends - Katja Ruhnke and Tina Dreimann - it was lovely to see you!
